  • Adelle's New (Imaginary) Friend

Adelle now has an imaginary friend. He's this guy:

Yep. That's right. The Beast from Disney's Beauty and the Beast is her new imaginary friend. Apparently he is quite impatient as she is constantly telling him to "hold on!" and he loves to dance with her, but only once she is properly attired in a princess dress. Fair enough. Oh, and he likes to hide under her bed, too, but he often gets stuck and needs her to help pull him out.

Ha ha ha. I love this kid so much!

  • The Fire Station

A playgroup that we belong to arranged for a fire station tour today. Adelle was beyond excited. Her favorite part was, of course, the truck. She kept getting back in line to go in again and even sweet talked the firemen into letting her sit in the drivers seat. At the end, she got a fire hat which made her so happy! Lots of tears when it was time to go home...

  • And So It Begins...

The following is an actual conversation from this morning.

The scene: Adelle is playing dress up after breakfast and has chosen to wear her bride costume and veil.

Adelle: Daddy, look I'm a bride! When I grow up I can choose a boy to marry.
Jamie: (unintelligible mutterings and grunting) Yeah, I guess.
Adelle: I think when I grow up I will marry Gunnar!
Jamie: Okay. If you want to.

I can only imagine what poor Jamie was thinking as his three-year-old daughter is already looking for potential husbands. :) Ha ha ha. And I love that she chose Gunnar!

  • Wedding Fun!

Adelle's Aunt Alyssa got married this weekend. Adelle and Evie got to be the flower girls. It was a great time, though very busy!

Grandma and Grandpa took the girls to the zoo on Thursday morning where they got to feed a giraffe (Aunt Alyssa works at the zoo, so there are quite a few perks with that!). They got to go out to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, too. Big fun!

Adelle tried to do her own hair for the wedding, but in the end, she decided that curls might look better.

Here come the flower girls! Adelle did a great job and even remembered to drop the petals about three-quarters of the way down the aisle.

The wedding's all done. Now it's time to play!

Adelle LOVED the silly veil I made for Aunt Aylssa's bachelorette party.

  • Preschool

Adelle started preschool this morning. She could not have been more excited! I am honestly amazed that she slept at all last night.

We dropped Jamie off at work on our way and when we got there, I did manage to get her to stand still (sort of) for about half a second so I could take her picture.

    After that, she was off!

    She checked out her cubby...

and left her monkey backpack to hang out.

I signed her in and she waited patiently for the classroom to open (she was first in line, jumping up and down). I managed to sneak in a hug and kiss before the doors opened and off she bounded without a backward glance. Evie immediately started waving 'bye bye' to Adelle, which she continued to do the whole way back to the van. I knew I would cry, but I tried to hold it together until I got back to the van. No luck, the tears started before I could even clear the building. I'm so proud of her. She's such a big girl and is so wonderful to be around. I really missed her this morning.

When we went to pick her up, Evie spent the wait time with her little face pressed up to the window of the door excited because she could see Adelle. We both couldn't wait for class to be over.

Adelle probably would have been happy in class all day, though. She said she had a great time! She made new friends (can't remember anyone's names, though), played with playdough as well as dominoes, played outside on the playground, and got to paint today. She can't wait to go back again tomorrow!
